Manufacturing facilities at Astrium's Ottobrunn Production Centre
The Ottobrunn Production Centre, located near Munich, is Astrium's centre
of excellence for the manufacturing and production of launch vehicle and
satellite propulsion elements. Here, manufacturing is concentrated in two
main areas:

Large component manufacturing is used for:
- Liquid propellant rocket engines, thrust chambers, rocket engine
injector heads, propellant tanks
and other aerospace components.

High performance cutting of exotic alloys for aerospace
applications including Inconel 718, electroplated nickel, magnesium, titanium,
high strength aluminium alloys, carbon fibre reinforced plastics and carbon
fibre structures.
- Propellant tank shells for satellites up to 1.3 meter diameter with
a wall thickness of 1 mm (tolerance 0.02 mm).

Small component manufacturing is used for:
- Monopropellant and bi-propellant thrusters, Apogee engines, propellant
and gas valves as well as other aerospace components for antennas and solar
generators.
- Small component manufacturing is used for the production of small monopropellant
and bipropellant thrusters with thrust levels up to 400 N.
- Electromagnetic and pneumatic valves for pressurant gases and cryogenic
propellants.
- Satellite antenna elements including corrugated horns with complex
channel geometries.
- Precision aerospace components.
- Electronic magnesium alloy boxes.
